Abstract

True leadership, as underscored by Bacon (2012), transcends control and dominance, relying instead on the power of influence. Effective managers recognize the indispensable role of influence in achieving organizational and work unit objectives. The adept use of influencing skills is paramount for garnering the commitment and support of stakeholders, fostering collaboration, and optimizing productivity. Building and nurturing relationships with stakeholders form the cornerstone of managerial success, encompassing both the knowledge and skills required for influence. Managers are frequently tasked with instigating change to enhance work unit productivity and align with the organization's vision and mission. However, change initiatives can instill apprehension among stakeholders. In this context, the art of influence assumes pivotal importance. Managers must master the art of persuading stakeholders to support necessary changes, shaping their beliefs, thoughts, and actions in alignment with organizational goals. This study delves into the multifaceted domain of influence, shedding light on its vital role in leadership, managerial effectiveness, and change management.
